Situps or crunches don't burn fat, they tone muscle. You'll need to reduce your food intake or up your activity level to lose the fat.

Do not do sit ups as they can hurt your back and they do not target the abs efficiently.
You’re using your hamstrings and hip flexors to perform 2/3 of the exercise, eventually leading to lower back pain. You would get better and safer results with crunches…3 seconds up…3 seconds down…slow enough to reach the deep muscle fiber so you don’t need to do endless reps.v
To lose body fat, you exercise for 3,500 calories for each pound of body fat that you wish to lose...but you’ll probably have to lose upper body fat before you lose lower body fat.

if you want to loose weight, do not do sit ups. it will not make your stomach slimmer.. and you may add on some pounds because muscle weighs more than fat. If you want to get slimmer start cutting out all drink except water and watch your sodium and sugar intake. Eat no more than 1000 mg of sodium a day. And workout-- take long walks, run, use an elliptical!

1- turn off the fat making switch
Your body produces insulin when you put sugary food into your cells. You are signalling your body to store fat.
2- don't exercise too much
99% of weight loss is what you eat, not what you burn. The more exercise you do the more hungry you get. Going to the gym too much works against your body. You want to work with it!
3- get organized
Make sure you have the right food in your fridge. Plan out your meals and snacks.
4- water
Drink plenty of water at least 8 glasses a day!

Situps alone won't reduce the fat on your abdomen. You need to be doing aerobic/cardio exercising - an hour a day - AND cutting back on your calorie intake. Reduce your intake of carbs and sugars, cut out animal fat as much as possible and limit your vegetable fat intake (but you do need some in your diet). That means eating skinless chicken, baked, boiled, or microwaved; extra lean beef; and fish. Four eggs a week are OK, as is 1% milk if you don't like skim. Small portions of starches like potatoes (baked or boiled), rice, pasta. Increase your vegetable intake to keep you from being hungry. Avoid regular soda pop and fruit drinks; vegetable, tomato, and 100% fruit juices are OK.

You can do 10000 sit ups every day, and you will NOT burn stomach fat.
BECAUSE, you can NOT burn fat from a specific part of your body, Thats NOT how your body works.
To lose stomach fat you need to burn your overall body fat percentage.
And to do that you need to do cardio.
Cardio is an exercise that keeps your heart pumping fast for a long time.
Examples of cardio: Jogging, swimming, etc.
I suggest that if you want to lose stomach fat, you need to stop doing so many sit ups because they will not do anything! Do 45 minutes of jogging everyday and eat healthy..
